Most families remodel the bathroom after the fall. The smart ones do it the year before. An aging-in-place bathroom takes away the tub wall, the slick floor, and the dim light — and gives back a room that's easier and nicer to use every single morning.
Roughly one in four adults over 65 falls each year, and the bathroom is where a large share of those falls happen — most often climbing over the edge of a bathtub. An aging-in-place remodel is our answer to that: a walk-in shower with a low or curbless entry and a textured anti-slip floor, a tiled bench, grab bars anchored into real blocking, a hand-held shower head, a comfort-height toilet, lever handles, and bright, even lighting with a night-light circuit. We do a lot of these for homeowners in their 60s, 70s, and 80s — and a lot of them are arranged by sons and daughters who live out of town and want to know Mom or Dad is safe. Most are finished in about a week.
